New happenings - January 1, 2007

Happy New Year!
2006 turned out to be an amazing year for us and our music. Because of all of YOU, this website is now getting over 29,000 hits per month. That has increased 15-fold in the past year.

+ We are happy to report that our latest release "Floyd's Market" was the recipient of "Best Non-Rock" record for 2006 in Wichita. (Jedd Beaudoin, Wichita City Paper)

+ Brad Horner has taken over drum duties. Brad was the first drummer that we worked with when we began the band. So having him back on board is SUPERB.

+ We are heading back into the studio in February to start recording a new record. The tentative plan is to release in late summer early fall.

+ There are a limited amount of MAF merchandise (T-Shirts, Stickers, etc) still available. Check out the "Store" link above.

+ We will be traveling back to Europe in June. We will be performing several festival dates and clubs in Italy, Belgium, and Holland.

Blues Bytes Reviews Floyd's Market - November 22, 2006

Mark E. Gallo had these great things to say:

"On “Fo” Moreland’s banjo and Floyd’s slap drums propel Arbuckle’s vocalizing and harp playing on a tune that is a joyous romp. The instrumental “Unsung,” besides being a cleverly titled tune, is a beautifully played, albeit short, Moreland guitar showcase. The spellbinding “So Low” is followed by an impressive take on Junior Kimbrough’s “Meet Me In The City.” "Variations on Juke” is a cool enough harp blow by Arbuckle. “Date With the Devil” is a rat-a-tat romp that allows the fellas to just tear it up, and tear it they do!

This is a killer trio that has crossover appeal if for no other reason than that they are young and able to bring young blood to the blues with their stripped down raw power."

WBS Selects *Floyd's Market* to compete in BEST SELF-PRODUCED CD competition - September 1, 2006

Once again, albeit in a different capacity, MAF will represent the Wichita Blues Society at the International Blues Competition in Memphis, TN.

In 2005, for the first time ever, The Blues Foundation added another component to celebrate up and coming artists by bestowing an award for the "Best Self-Produced CD" of the year. It will do so again in 2007. Where the IBC, through its panel of distinguished judges, has been the measure of excellence for a band's live performance, the Best Self Produced CD award honors artists that have achieved excellence in the studio. The purpose of this award is to assist Blues musicians in the pursuit of their professional goals. In addition, this award complements the International Blues Challenge-the live music component of IBC Weekend (Feb.1-3, 2007).

Thanks to the WBS and the panel of judges!
