Is shipping out to Afghanistan

On April 17th, the world famous BLUZAPALOOZA celebrity concert tour will be making Blues history again when it ships out to Afghanistan to entertain our troops at war.

Starring BLUZAPALOOZA veterens Shemekia Copeland and Moreland & Arbuckle, this 14 day tour will take the Blues to Krygyzstan, Afghanistan and Qatar with most of the time being spent at forward operating bases within the war zone of Afghanistan.

"It is an honor to be able to bring the Blues to our men and woman in uniform.......men and woman who have made so many sacrifices to keep us safe at home. We will be giving them a show that they will never forget and that will remind them how much they are loved and prayed for by all of us," said BLUZAPALOOZA co-founder and co-producer Steve Simon.

This is their first release on the Telarc record label, which is part of Concord Music Group.

Indie Acoustic Project 2008 CD of the Year Award

The Indie Acoustic Project is proud to announce the winners of the IAP's "Best CDs of 2008" Awards. The winners in each of 15 categories were selected from among the 3 finalists in each category. It was extremely difficult to determine the "winner" for each category, as all of the finalist CDs were outstanding in their own rights. But, since our award process is (loosely) modeled on the Oscar and Grammy Awards, a winner is expected to be chosen. It is our hope that the awards will give well-deserved recognition to these outstanding works of innovative, independently produced acoustic music, and to generate interest in independent music in general.

BLUZAPALOOZA, the star-studded celebrity Blues concert tour is heading back to Iraq and Kuwait for its second tour on October 26th.

Created by Blues producers Steve Simon and John Hahn and presented by Armed Forces Entertainment, this 12 day BLUZAPALOOZA tour stars Blues icons Shemekia Copeland, Michael Burks, Deanna Bogart, Zac Harmon, Moreland & Arbuckle and Tony Braunagel and The BLUZAPALOOZA All-Star Band.

“I am deeply honored to be going over there to entertain our troops, and Lord knows I love to hang out with men in uniforms”, stated Shemekia Copeland.

“We are thrilled to be going back to Iraq and to have so many great Blues artists volunteering to go to a war zone. This is certainly an historic event for the Blues and for our men and woman who so proudly serve our country,” stated BLUZAPALOOZA founder and producer Steve Simon.

“Our October tour’s lineup would sell out any blues festival in the country. It's an honor to be able to bring it to our troops,” stated BLUZAPALOOZA co-producer John Hahn.

This historic tour will be documented by renowned New York photographer, Joseph A. Rosen, a recipient of the “Keeping the Blues Alive” award in photography from the Blues Foundation.
